To celebrate the Thanksgiving Holiday, the Chinese Student and Scholar’s Association (CSSA) is pleased to present you a Holiday Concert on Wednesday, November 27 7:00PM-9:30PM, in Salomon Hall 101, Brown University.

We invited a wonderful group of professional musicians from NYC and Boston to join our own talented student musicians at Brown. In particular, Yixuan Pang, a famous Soprano singer from Manhattan School of Music, kindly agrees to serve as the director of this show, who will also present us a selection of beautiful opera pieces. Invitation to Harvard China Night 2013

The China Society student group at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government cordially invites you to Harvard China Night 2013 on Friday, November 1st. This year, we will have an stimulating and intellectual dialogue featuring Professor John Quelch, Professor Gao Jian, Dr. Yujun Zhang and senior Chinese officials. Food and drinks will be served during the reception. We have also prepared traditional Chinese art performances for an evening of learning and fun.

 

You will have the opportunity to network with students, scholars, business leaders and policy makers from the Greater Boston Area.

Our theme is "China’s Next Ten Years: Business as (Un)usual". We have already confirmed the following speakers:

   Dr. Gao Jian - Executive Vice Governor of China Development Bank (CDB). Dr. Gao is recognized as the founder of China's government securities due to his pioneering works in government bond market reform in the 1990s, and for which he has developed the reputation as the godfather of China's bond market.

   Mr. Yujun Zhang – Assistant Chairman of China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) and Member of the CSRC Party Committee. Mr. Zhang previously served as the president of Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE) and Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) respectively.

   Professor John A. Quelch - Charles Edward Wilson Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School. Professor Quelch is also a fellow of the Harvard China Fund, a Member of the Harvard China Advisory Board and Associate in Research at the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies. Professor Quelch was a former Dean of CEIBS, China's leading business school.

由国侨办精心挑选的“中华文化大乐园—优秀才艺学生演出团” 将为美国当地华裔及非华裔青少年朋友表演中国民族歌舞、中国戏曲、武术、杂技等精彩节目。

此次文化交流活动是为了增进海外广大青少年朋友对绚丽多彩中华文化的了解和喜爱,促进中外青少年在更多领域的对话和交流。

才艺团由中国湖南电视台“汉语桥”世界大学生中文比赛总导演、2012纽约华人新春联欢晚会总导演甘琼带队,由小梅花奖金奖得主张可为、被称为中国版秀兰·邓波尔的阚琳娜、精通川剧绝技变脸和喷火的宋玉龙、著名童星柳博、中国京剧小童星李沛泽、民族器乐金奖并荣获“胡琴之星”称号的章海玥、多次获得金奖的竹笛少年李昊洋、甜美可人小童星冯丽媛、受邀出访多个国家和地区的少林铁扇表演团、2011年央视春晚杂技节目《晃管》表演团还有以曼妙的舞姿和优美的旋律震撼人心的《邵多丽》表演团等组成。

“中华文化大乐园”是国务院侨办在海外举办华裔青少年夏令营的品牌活动。届时,3000多位华盛顿特区和波士顿地区的观众将有幸近距离欣赏到中国的天才少年们带来的精彩演出。

“中华文华大乐园—优秀才艺学生演出团” 波士顿演出信息:

9月15日(周日)晚7时,地点:John Hancock Hall (180 Berkeley Street, Boston, MA 02116) 

 

The 2013 Talented Youth Troupe, a group of brilliant, young artists carefully selected by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of China State Council, will perform a show called “Chinese Culture Land” to audiences in Boston and Washington, DC to promote better understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture.  It features Chinese folk songs and dances, Chinese traditional opera, marshal arts, and magic.  The troupe will be led by Gan Qiong, director of  “Hanyu Bridge”, a world college student Chinese language contest held by Hunan Television Network and director of the Spring Festival Gala of New York 2012.  Its members include Zhang Kewei, winner of the Plum Performance Gold Award for Children; Kan Linna, hailed as ‘China’s Shirley Temple;’ Song Yulong, a brilliant performer of face-changing and fire-breathing; Liu Bo, a prodigy in acting, singing and television hosting; Li Peize, a Chinese opera child star; Zhang Haiyue, winner of the Gold Award for Performing Ethnic Instruments; Li Haoyang, winner of a number of Gold Awards for the Bamboo Flute; Feng Liyuan, a renowned, up and coming, cheerful singer among others.

 

“Chinese Culture Land” is the signature program of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of China’s State Council for overseas Chinese youth.  Besides the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, organizations that make this possible are Asian Culture & Media Group, Hunan Television Network, Asian Cultural Center and the China Press.  More than three thousand American youngsters in Washington, DC and Boston are expected to attend the live performances.
